Pagans on Campus: Empowering Our Future Leaders
Peggy Thompson

University life is busy, hectic, stressful, and challenging. Your days are filled with classes, studying, work, and - if you're lucky - a little time to yourself to stay grounded and centered in your spiritual life, as well. As a Pagan college student, however, you have additional challenges: finding others to share concerns that are unique to our community, lifestyle and values AND finding ways to communicate and educate fellow students, faculty, and staff who are not familiar with our diversity, and to do so in positive ways. One resource for meeting this challenge is the sanctioned Student Organization... but what do you do if there's not already one at your school?

Peggy Thompson has designed this track specifically for college students and campus leaders who want to create a dynamic Pagan community at their schools. Pagan student organizations provide a place for Pagan students to explore their faith, meet other Pagan students, and help to educate the entire student body as to what Paganism is. Students who are involved on their campus reap benefits that go beyond belonging to a "club"; students learn leadership skills that easily translate to job skills. From dealing with difficult people to organizing an event, these skills are necessary in today’s job market. Whether a current student or a campus minister, this track will provide attendees with the skills to create a Pagan community on your local college or university campus.
